"I Am Certain There is Too Much Certainty in the World"
Hello people!

As I'd hope all of you know by now, Michael Crichton is, indeed, my favorite author. Jurassic Park was definitely the most wonderful, monumental novel I've ever read and it will stick with me forever.

Unfortunately, and thank you to fenellaevangela for letting me know (I'd rather hear it from a friend then an un-emotional prick on the news), Michael Crichton passed away today.

He was 66 and had cancer and apparently, it was rather unexpected. I must say, I cried when I found out. I always thought, ya know, he's still fairly young, maybe I can meet him someday, wouldn't that be amazing.

He was able to witness Obama's winning. Hopefully, it was a win for him, as well. I will always remember him and cherish the inspirational works of fiction (and non-fiction) that make you really think.

Michael Crichton, you will be missed. <3

You may say I'm dreamer...but I'm not the only one: Jurassic Park- Paleontology is Hot[info]not_last_resort on November 5th, 2008 08:18 pm (UTC)
Oh no! That's so tragic. He was a brilliant author and I've enjoyed lots and lots of his books. Jurassic Park is my favorite but Timeline is also excellent and Congo is pretty good too.

April 11, 2007, 5:45 am, I found out that Kurt Vonnegut had passed away and I had to take a PreCalc test an hour later. All you can do at times like these is keep him in your heart, as cheesy as that sounds. It's really comforting to think that a little piece of Kurt Vonnegut is inside of me, helping me through tough shit. He's the reason I got into college. He's the reason Mr. Rickert and I are pals. He is what makes me special, and if Michael Crichton is that to you, then there is my advice.

You may not be a spiritual person, and neither am I, but I can't tell you how overwhelmingly right it felt to hear his voice over the radio the day he died, telling the world--telling me--to just be a good person no matter what. You may not be a spiritual person, but believing the deceased are with us and believing in God are two different things.

<3 It doesn't sound cheesy, it's true. Thanks, Jen.

I agree and thank you so much. You don't know how much it means to me that you said that, Jen. <3

I heard about it when I woke up, my Mom loved him as well. I immediately thought of you, honey, and I was going to tell you until I found out you already knew.

I regret to say I haven't read any of his works, even 'Jurassic Park', but that'll change soon. It's been on my reading list for years, maybe I'll bump it to the top of the list.

*hugs*
